Exercise Science
As an exercise science professional, each day provides the opportunity to enhance the health and well-being of others. Keiser University’s Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in Exercise Science combine both didactic instruction (integrated with supervised practice) and externships necessary to provide essential tools for success in this field of study. The coursework focuses on providing students with a solid foundation in science-based general education and patient assessment core courses.
The Associate of Science degree in Exercise Science prepares students to take two nationally recognized and accredited field certifications. Following graduation from the Associate program, students will have the necessary requirements to pursue a bachelor’s degree in a variety of medical-related fields.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science prepares students to take three nationally recognized and accredited field certifications. The practical, career-focused curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for a wide range of entry-level positions in the exercise science field as well as for graduate study in occupational therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic, and medicine.

Exercise Science
Students of the Associate of Science in Exercise Science program:
- Develop their ability to apply health and fitness assessments in the development, monitoring, and motivation of individuals with exercise prescriptions.
- Properly conduct and monitor exercise sessions in both healthy and special populations.
- Apply learned principles to properly conduct assessments and measurements in sports performance assessments in both healthy and special populations and interpret the results.
- Graduates are prepared for bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Science, Nursing, and/or other educational programs.
Students of the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program:
- Develop their ability to apply health and fitness assessments in the development, monitoring, and motivation of individuals with exercise prescriptions.
- Properly conduct and monitor exercise sessions in both healthy and special populations.
- Apply learned principles to properly conduct assessments and measurements in sports performance assessments in both healthy and special populations and interpret the results.
- Analyze and apply principles related to the human movement system as well as using corrective exercise strategies to correct dysfunctional movement patterns.
- Prepare graduates for careers in Exercise Science and/or further education.
Certifications
The Associate of Science in Exercise Science helps prepare students to take nationally accredited certification examinations which include:
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CPT) – Certified Personal Trainer
- National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT ) – Certified Personal Trainer
The Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science also helps prepare students to take nationally accredited certification examinations in the field of health-fitness and strength and conditioning, including:
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) – Certified Personal Trainer
- National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
- National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) – Corrective Exercise Specialist
The B.S. in Exercise Science includes an exciting externship program, which provides you with real-world experience in fitness settings, and so you can begin developing your own professional network and career prospects.
